BEETHOVEN INSPIRATION

Music plays an essential part of my faith. For me, it connects me to God, allows us to be closer to Him.

What is your favorite Beethoven musical work? And why?

Piano Concerto No.1. In my humble opinion, it is a well-written work. It has many beautiful and meaningful musical lines, superb orchestration, and lots of modulations, especially in the first movement.

How has Beethoven’s master artistry inspired or influenced you as a creative?

One aspect that I think is influential is that Beethoven lived through both the Classical and Romantic era, which influenced the way he wrote pieces in terms of harmony, dynamics, instrumentation/orchestration, and other factors. In our time, we are influenced by the current music trends and the different possibilities one can create.

Beethoven was a man of great faith who saw music as a medium that could be experienced anywhere. What are your thoughts on the power of the arts to transform lives?

Art is a human expression, and when we have the chance to express ourselves, it means we are alive and that we can demonstrate our human condition. Art also liberates our minds and our being; it can give us the freedom to discover something about ourselves that perhaps we never knew existed.

What is your creative talent, craft and/or profession?

Music and education

How did you get started on your creative journey?

In third grade in Colombia, at a music school.

Where are you now on this journey?

I currently teach elementary music in Collier County. I also play for a church and give private lessons. Before the pandemic, my brother and I used to do performances at different places around town.

What are some of your accomplishments?

Being able to graduate from college and teach music is a big opportunity and an accomplishment that I am very thankful for. Teaching is an opportunity to help students become better versions of themselves and successful human beings.

How do you connect your art to your faith?

Music plays an essential part of my faith. For me, it connects me to God, allows us to be closer to Him.
